Executive Director Hiring Update
- The board members met with Deb Nicholson from Python Software Foundation to discuss Executive Director hiring and governance practices.
- The discussion covered topics including board–Executive Director relationships, hiring considerations, organizational structure, fundraising, and ongoing collaboration.
- External resources and examples from peer open-source organizations were reviewed to help inform the process.
- Abigail Afi Gbadago continued work on the Executive Director Responsibilities document and the draft Executive Director Job Advertisement.
- The board members to review the Executive Director 2026 document(s) and provide feedback.
DjangoCon Europe 2027
- The DSF Events Support Working Group recommends approving the sole application received for DjangoCon Europe 2027
- A draft licensing agreement has already been prepared and needs only the licensee details and dates filled in once approved.
- RESOLVED, that the Django Software Foundation Board approves Innsbruck, Austria as the host location for DjangoCon Europe 2027, contingent upon the execution of a DjangoCon Europe 2027 Licensing Agreement between the Django Software Foundation and the approved organizers.
Google Summer of Code Working Group
- A charter has been proposed for the Google Summer of Code Working Group. The link for the proposed charter can be found here.
- RESOLVED, that the Django Software Foundation Board approves the creation of the Google Summer of Code Working Group as an official DSF Working Group.
Voting Members Distinction Proposal
- According to our current bylaws, a majority of members need to vote in the board election for it to be considered a quorum of the membership and therefore a valid election.
- Bylaws changes related to inactive voting members has been posted on Django forum.
- These changes are currently being discussed in this PR.
New business
EuroPython
- Some of the board members plan to attend EuroPython on behalf of the DSF.
- One of the key objectives is to engage with community members and companies participating in the conference to strengthen community relationships.
- The request for promotional merchandise has been approved, and payment has been completed.
Code of Conduct Working Group Update
- Documentation updates were proposed to improve internal processes related to suspension tracking and notifications.
- Board members to review this pull request and provide feedback.
