Trademark Renewal
- The Board noted that the organization’s trademark renewal process has been successfully completed.
- The trademark has been renewed for a ten-year term, ensuring continued protection of the organization’s intellectual property.
JetBrains Fundraiser
- The Board received an update on the JetBrains fundraising campaign.
- The first phase of the fundraiser has generated approximately USD 11,000 in revenue.
- Members acknowledged the positive outcome of the campaign and the continued value of the partnership.
Fundraising Goals
- The fundraising blog post has been published to communicate the organization’s fundraising efforts and impact.
- The new sponsor page has also been launched to better present sponsorship opportunities.
DjangoCon Europe 2027
- The Board discussed the DjangoCon Europe 2027 proposal, including the event application, the draft Licensing Agreement, and updates to the Code of Conduct section.
- Board Members held an internal discussion on the overall proposal, the standard application process, the proposed venue arrangements, and plans for hosting sprint sessions.
- The Board agreed that the Licensing Agreement would be reviewed asynchronously, with board members submitting their votes following the meeting.
Documentation Advertising
- The Steering Council provided an update on discussions regarding the introduction of advertisements within the project documentation.
- Work is ongoing with the Operations team to improve website analytics and better understand user engagement before making implementation decisions.
- Abigail Afi Gbadago noted that carefully curated advertisements could provide additional sponsorship opportunities while introducing users to organizations that offer services relevant to the Django community.
- Jacob Kaplan-Moss suggested positioning documentation advertisements as a premium sponsorship benefit, with pricing set sufficiently high to maintain selectivity and preserve the quality of the documentation experience.
- Paolo Melchiorre emphasized that any advertising initiative should be guided by clear ethical standards and should align with the organization’s values and community expectations.
Announcing the Search for a DSF Executive Director
- The Board discussed the launch of the search for the Django Software Foundation’s first Executive Director, recognizing it as a strategic priority and a key focus area for strengthening the Foundation’s long-term sustainability.
- Board Members recognized the collaboration of six long-standing Django consulting agencies who have jointly pledged $47,500 to help fund the Executive Director’s first year: Caktus Group, Lincoln Loop, Six Feet Up, Cuttlesoft, OddBird, and Two Rock. Discussions were held on the importance of securing additional long-term funding through increased corporate sponsorships and partnerships.
- The Board noted that the hiring process is being formalized and that the position will be publicly advertised through the Foundation’s communication channels in the coming weeks.

Google Summer of Code Working Group Charter
- The Board was informed that the Google Summer of Code Working Group Charter will be presented for review during the next board meeting.
- Board members were encouraged to review the draft charter in advance and provide comments or suggested revisions prior to the meeting to facilitate a timely discussion.
